4 tips to make moving day easier
Friday, March 19th, 2010 | Uncategorized | Comments Off
Moving day can be one of the most stressful days in your entire life and anything that makes it easier is welcome. There are many things you can do to make life easier for you when you are relocating and the following tips are a good place to start.
1. Organize all of your belongings before moving day comes around. Pack loose items carefully into boxes and have this done for all non essential items as soon as possible. Remember to try and have as few boxes as possible, but donâ??t make the boxes too heavy to be safely carried by 2 people.
2. If you are moving everything yourself then it is important to book your moving van rental as soon as possible. This will make sure that the van will be available for you when you require it and could even save you some money.
3. When you begin planning your big move it is important to write checklists with everything you need to do before you move. This will ensure you donâ??t forget to do anything in the stress of moving.
4. If you need to make your move as cheaply as possible you can save money by asking your friends and family to help. Offer them a reward such as a party, night out or movie tickets to say thank you for their help.

The Basics of Starting and Maintaining Your Own Lawn and Garden
Thursday, March 18th, 2010 | Uncategorized | Comments Off
A lot of people are scared of
having a lawn and garden simply
because they are intimidated of the idea. They have this notion that gardening
should be restricted to professionals. That if they are inexperienced in this
field, they would just end up killing most if not all of their plants.
But that notion is not entirely
true. You do not really need some hardcore skills to start and maintain your lawn and garden. You just need to know
the basics, persevere a little and thatâ??s it! You can have a garden that will
be the envy of your neighbors.
Now if that whole idea got you
excited with gardening, here are some of the basics that can help you start
off.
1. Before planting, spend some time planning the lay out
of your lawn.
This will give
you an idea on how your lawn will look like. You can identify the spots where
you want to plant something and the spots that you want to just adorn with
grass.
2. Visit your local nursery and discuss the plan that
you have in mind.
By showing them
what you plan to do, they can give you some inputs on what plants will work
best for your skill and design. And when you are ready to buy plants from the
nursery, try to buy in bulk to take advantage of discounts.
3. Start planting.
Even if you have
a plan, do not be afraid to deviate from it if the occasion calls for it. Remember
this. Plants will always look beautiful no matter where you put them.
4. Finally, be mindful of the trinity of lawn soil
maintenance: water, mulch and fertilize.
All these are
important to keep the soil healthy and your plants happy. Regarding
fertilizing, if you are a fan of the â??organicâ? stuff, then you can make your
own fertilizer using compost. But if you are okay with fertilizers that are
available in the market, then make sure that you read instructions carefully,
otherwise you may end up over â?? fertilizing your soil.
Those are the basics that you
should keep in mind if you want to get started with gardening. Right now it may
sound like it is tons of work but all your efforts will eventually be paid out
once your lawn and garden starts to
flourish.
